Landscape Development

This is a photo of wooden pergola on a backyard patio, with cream curtains tied closed and string lights illuminating an outdoor furniture set.
Landscape Development is the process of turning your vision into reality. The designing aspect is our true passion. We will help you choose the style you want your property to have and turn that idea into a reality.

We can help with easy projects like planting a few new trees in your front yard to enhance curb appeal. Or we can help with higher scale projects like an entire backyard revamp. Creating your own oasis can be as simple as adding a new water feature, pergola, fire pit, or vegetable garden. Anything you choose, we can help!

Whatever you need, our skilled and experienced team of landscape architects and designers will help turn your dreams into a reality. We can help you decide on every last detail of your yard. Including types of grasses, flower beds and trees, stones and rocks, pavement and lighting. We won't stop until your curb appeal is the envy of the whole neighborhood.

Landscape Management

Landscape Maintenance essentially means keeping your property looking the same (or better!) and resisting decay. Lawn maintenance can be tricky to keep up with, because your landscape is constantly growing and requiring attention.

Top 10 Ways to Spruce Up Your Yard

1. Scatter container plants throughout your space. This will create more levels and visual interest. Place them along walkways, doors or near seating!
2. Give new life to stained walkways and patios with concrete paint. It will completely refresh your space!
3. Cover up unsalvageable surfaces with an outdoor rug built to withstand all weather. This will brighten up your space and make it feel more homey!
4. Cover up eye sores, such as trash cans or power boxes with a privacy screen that matches your space. String lights along the top or place potted plants around it, to make it a true design element. This will add dimension to your space!
5. Set up a cute hammock! Not only are they aesthetically pleasing, but they also offer extra seating and perfect nap nests!
6. Create an interesting focal point amongst your seating area with a unique fire pit. Extra points to whoever uses spray paint to give their pit a fresh and vibrant look!
7. Lighting, lighting, lighting! Add some string lights or lanterns to create ambience and finish to your outdoor space.
8. Plant inexpensive perennials! Perennials return every year, which means they're a one time investment, that will add pops of color to your space for years to come!
9. Check your local thrift store or consignment shop for vintage decor and furniture. These great deals will add so much character to your outdoor living space.
10. Hardscape with gravel instead of cement. When done well, gravel can be even more of a statement in your oasis than pavement!

FAQs

What is landscaping color theory?
  • Landscaping color theory refers to the art of mixing colors and effects of those color combinations in such a way to create a soothing feel, manipulate visual space, and to draw the eye to certain areas or tie areas together. The color spectrum is divided into four groups:
    • Primary: reds, yellows, blues
    • Secondary: greens, violets, oranges
    • Tertiary: blends of primary and secondary colors
    • Neutral: white, grey, tan and silvers
Why is mowing your grass in certain patterns important?
  • Grass cut at the correct height (usually around 3 inches) will cause less damage to it and prevent stress that could negatively impact it. Mowing at the correct height and in alternating patterns allows for the grass to have shading and a higher ability to combat weed growth. It also protects the grass from damage done by insects.
Why and when should I fertilize my lawn?
  • Fertilizing your lawn is an extremely important aspect in groundskeeping. Fertilizer replaces and replenishes the essential nutrients your lawn needs to look healthy and beautiful. It helps keep soil quality high and healthy which is essential for all plant life. Usually it's best to fertilizer your yard at least once a year, in which case, do so in early autumn. (And yes, there are organic and natural fertilizer options!)
How can I tell what kind of soil I have?
  • The consistency, pH levels and drainage of your soil directly effects the success of your plants. Knowing your soil can help you determine solutions to soil issues in the future. There are five main categories of soil:
    • Sandy soil: contains large particles, difficulty in retaining moisture, feels gritty to the touch - this type of soil can be troublesome for your garden
    • Silty soil: smaller particles, holds some moisture, silky smooth to the touch - a reasonably fertile soil, but issues can arise when it becomes compact and prevents aeration
    • Clay soil: smallest particles, excellent water retention, sticky when wet and silky smooth when dry - can be one of the most beneficial soils for your garden, as it is slow draining and holds in nutrients well; issues can arise when there is a lot of heavy rainfall or prolonged drought.
Are you insured?
  • Yes, we have liability insurance and provide workers compensation.
Can you build outdoor kitchens and living spaces?
  • Yes, in fact, it's one of our specialties.
Do you build outdoor structures like pergolas and decks?
  • Yes, we can deliver any sort of outdoor structure you'd like.
